Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),
Here is another opportunity to work with Seattle Audubon’s Finding Urban Nature (FUN) Program at your child’s school this year. FUN is an environmental education program for 3rd and 4th graders and we are excited to work with your child during the fall session. This program greatly benefits and relies on parent volunteers who have a desire, the time, and the commitment to work with their children and their classmates at their school. The fall session is 4 weeks in length, doing one activity per week. Each activity takes about one hour per classroom (usually 2 classrooms per school). Volunteers work with small groups of about 5 or 6 children at a time.
The FUN Program has been well received by students, teachers, and parents for 22 years. It is a highly valued environmental education program currently at 11 Seattle public schools. The program focuses on introducing students to often-overlooked nature right outside of their schools and in their neighborhoods. It is important to Seattle Audubon to continue to offer this quality program to students in Seattle Public Schools at no cost, and with parent volunteers like you, we can ensure that your children and other children to come, will reap the benefits of this outstanding program.
The dates that the FUN program will be in your child’s classroom are:
Thursdays, October 7, 14, 21, and 28: 9:00- 11:30am
The program will begin with a half-day training session on Thursday, September 30th from 9:30-10:45 at Graham Hill, exclusively for Graham Hill volunteers. Please plan on coming to the training if you are going to volunteer for this program. We will go over all of the activities for the fall session, so you will be prepared to facilitate the activities when you enter the classroom. More information regarding the training will follow.
Thank you very much for your time and attention. If you are planning on attending the training or have any questions about the FUN program PLEASE CONTACT me by phone at 206.523.8243 ext 19 or via email at gro.nobuduaelttaes|sellenaj#gro.nobuduaelttaes|sellenaj.
